This server was made in NYC in 1830 and was possibly made by Scottish furniture maker Duncan Phyfe it shares many similarities to his “French” sideboard. This piece has also been signed and labeled by the restorer Ernest F. Hagen when it was restored in 1890. Hagen was an apprentice for Duncan Phyfe in 1844 and went on to create his own furniture and would frequently make copies of Duncan Phyfes work for people who needed replacements. He had restored this piece for Mrs Curtis 46 W 9th in September 1890.
